Calypso the turtle

Calypso is one of the many underwater stars attending our opening reception

After being rescued in 2000 from Long Island Sound, Calypso weighed just six pounds. She was found cold-stunned with an infected front flipper. To stop the infection spreading to her body she had her flipper amputated.

Today she weighs in at 500 pounds and resides at Blacktip Reef at the National Aquarium.

Raise a glass to Calypso at our opening reception as you enjoy canapés and cocktails in an underwater world.
